Why Move To Bielsko-Biała

Bielsko-Biała is a very special city for us. This is where Selleo was born and where our office is located. It is also the city where BB Days4IT 2019 is going to take place starting September 9th. Many people decide to move to Bielsko-Biała and this article will show you why.

Location location location

Bielsko-Biała is a city in the mountains. Located near the Beskids it is a perfect place to spend free time in. You do not have to go far to enjoy the mountains - the Dębowiec mountain is closely located to the city centre (approximately 6km). Here, you can enjoy the beautiful view of the city, go down a year-round luge track or ski down the hill during winter. Dębowiec is also a spot for open-air festivals and concerts.

There is also the Szyndzielnia mountain. With its renovated cable car, observation tower and close location to yet another peak Klimczok, it is a spot frequently visited by families during weekends. From there, you can choose one of 4 mountain trails to further explore the local mountains. Those trails are also often visited by nordic walkers.

If you are a skiing enthusiast, you can drive to the ski resorts near the city: Szczyrk, Wisła and Ustroń. There you will find modern ski lifts, many ski runs of various difficulty level as well as amazing local food.

How about a bike ride?

For those who like to stay active during the warmer months, Bielsko-Biała has it all. The city has one of the best mountain bike trails out there.

The Enduro Trails are one of the best attraction for bike lovers. They vary in difficulty, slope tilts and surface and can be used by beginners as well as expert mountain bikers. Those trails often become the reason why people choose Bielsko as their home.

Some of our own developers decided to move here from Warsaw and other cities. They say there is no better place to live than Bielsko-Biała. You can also ride your bike down the 11-kilometre trail down the Szyndzielnia mountain and if that is not enough, Szczyrk also has some trials to offer and the number grows every year.

A quick dip

But what if during one of those hot summer days it is too hot to ride a bike? You can enjoy a quick dip in one of the two open-air pools in the city Start and Panorama. They are the perfect place to be on a hot day - swim around with your family, sunbathe, enjoy icecream and water slides.

If the weather is not on your side you can choose to go to an indoor swimming pool near the city centre.

If you are into other water sports, you can sail or wakeboard in Miedzybrodzie, Żywieckie lake or in Goczalkowice - both not further than half an hour car ride from the city. Small info for all the runners out there: the trails here are amazing. There are also a lot of events connected to mountain running like https://www.beskidyultratrail.com/, http://chudywawrzyniec.pl/ or https://www.barbarianrace.pl/ - the possibilities are endless.

Something for the soul

Although Bielsko-Biała is not a very big city - it has a lot to offer. Jazz fans gather in Bielsko every year for the Jazz Autumn Festival (Jazzowa Jesień) or at Lotos Jazz Festival (Zadymka Jazzowa).

Those who like more classical music take part in Polish Compositors Festival (Festiwal Kompozytorów Polskich) or International Gospel Workshops.

The city’s theatre also attracts a lot of amazing actors and interesting plays. Here, we cannot forget about the Puppetry Theatre 'Banialuka' and its International Festival of Puppetry Art which is one of the most important puppetry festivals out there.

We cannot forget about the local Art Gallery BWA, which recently was ranked first by an art magazine among 15 most interesting modern art institutions. The gallery coordinates the creation of murals which are spread out across the city.

‘Little Vienna’

For architecture enthusiasts, Bielsko-Biała is an amazing choice. The city is full of beautiful buildings, some of which were designed by architects from Vienna (hence Bielsko is also called Little Vienna).

During a walk in the city, we can admire Hotel President - a masterpiece of Karol Korn, who was recognized by Franz Joseph I, the emperor of Austria.

Not far from the hotel you can find the main square, which combines great architecture with even better food. This is where you can spend your evening enjoying the summer weather with friends, sipping drinks or eating.

On the other hand, Bielsko is also famous for its forest - the Gypsy Forest (Cygański Las) giving you the opportunity to take a breath from the city rush. A walk through the forest will lead you to the biggest green areas of Bielsko-Biała - Błonia. The space is full of playgrounds and attractions for kids, a skatepark, mountain bike trail, mini-golf and basketball court.
