JIPS

NGOS / Nonprofit Organizations / Third Sector

The web platform of the Joint IDP Profiling Service was created to provide the users with access to a wealth of information on the profiling of IDP situations in general, the tools and findings from the profiling exercises supported around the world as well as to field and global level training materials for profiling exercises and much more.

Business Value

Information at your fingertips

The website enables both humanitarian and development organizations to access and view the results and graphs from profiling exercises supported by JIPS. Importantly, the website also allows visitors to access the tools that lead to these results.

The tools are organized according to the profiling process, e.g., advocacy and lobbying, process management, questionnaire and analysis plans or data collection and field organization. The users can directly download the used tools online. Selleo was commissioned by JIPS to refresh and evolve the current website. The data possessed by the service was presented in an old-fashioned way in the form of pdf files.

The user can easily access the results from the profiling exercises supported by JIPS in the country pages, and navigate through the information, charts, graphs and an interactive world map.

Technology stack

IDP profiling service for refugee councils and UN bodies

Our main task was to design and develop a user-friendly front-end as well as to come up with a brand new way of data presentation and analysis. The front-end of the web service was developed using JQuery, HTML5 and CSS3 and the back-end is based on Rails3 and PostgreSQL. JIPS is supervised by a Steering Committee which is in turn comprised of the Danish Refugee Council (DRC), the Norwegian Refugee Council’s Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre (NRC-IDMC), UNHCR, UNFPA, IOM, OCHA and the Office of the Special Rapporteur for the Human Rights of IDPs.
